If you want to make luau cakes to celebrate any milestone in your family’s life, be it birthdays or anniversaries, here are some guidelines.

After you have decided on a Hawaiian luau themed party, you can make a hula girl Barbie cake. To make this particular luau cake, you can start by baking an eighteen-inch round chocolate fudge cake by using an 18 inch round pan.

You can then bake a Barbie mold vanilla cake for the hula skirt to be placed on top of the cake. The Barbie mold can be purchased on EBay for around $12, including shipment.

You should allow the luau cake to cool overnight and you may start decorating the next day. You can use a homemade butter cream icing to frost the whole Hawaiian luau cake. Use white only until half way up the hula skirt. At this point, you may insert the Barbie into the Hawaiian luau cake. The Barbie that you should buy should have dark complexion and an island look.

You should remove the Barbie’s clothing and leave only the necklace and put her hair up. After you have finished with the decoration and the butter icing is already hard, you may let her hair loose.

Use a gel paste of different colors; you can make three different shades of green for the grass skirt and leaves and around the bottom and the borders. You can mix hot pink and yellow food coloring together to achieve a bright coral color for the flowers and for the Barbie’s bikini top.

After which, you can place the candles and leaves and flowers around the number corresponding to celebrator’s age. You can use the bright blue color to write your greetings and finish the whole thing off by sprinkling with tiny round candy sprinkles.
